How to install Roblox scripts, models and game kits

Import .rbxm and .rbxl files into Roblox Studio, place scripts in the right services and test before publishing.

This guide covers the files you usually receive with a Roblox resource: .rbxm (model or script folder), .rbxl (complete place), .lua / .luau (loose scripts) and sometimes a plugin.

Before you start

• Open Roblox Studio and the experience you want to add the resource to. Make a copy of your place first (File → Save to File As…) so you can go back.

• Read the README or installation notes included in the download, and the Details tab of the product page.

Import a .rbxm file

1. In Roblox Studio, right-click the service where the content should go (or select it), then choose Insert from File….

2. Select the .rbxm file. You can also drag and drop the file into the 3D view.

3. Move each folder to the service named in the guide. Common locations:

• ServerScriptService: server scripts (data saving, shops, round systems).

• ReplicatedStorage: modules, remotes and assets shared by the server and the players.

• StarterGui: user interfaces (ScreenGui).

• StarterPlayer → StarterPlayerScripts / StarterCharacterScripts: client scripts.

• Workspace: maps, models and props.

Open a .rbxl game kit

• Double-click the .rbxl file or use File → Open from File. The kit opens as a separate place: publish it as a new experience, or copy its folders into your own place.

Settings to check

• Game Settings → Security: enable Allow HTTP Requests or Enable Studio Access to API Services only if the guide asks for it (needed for DataStores in Studio, webhooks or external APIs).

• Configuration modules: most systems have a Config or Settings module with prices, currencies and texts. Change them there instead of editing the code.

Test before publishing

• Press Play (F5) to test as a player, then Start with several players in the Test tab to check client/server behaviour.

• Open the Output window (View → Output): errors in red tell you which script and line fail.

Something does not work?

• Check that every folder is in the service the guide names, and that names were not changed (scripts often look objects up by name).

• Contact the seller from Account → Orders → Contact seller with the error message from the Output window.
